The importance of specifications 

It is very difficult, when specifying, to prevent errors or omissions of any kind. The more complex the feature, the higher the risk, in fact.

This is valid, and in collaboration with other stakeholders, specifications gather information that allows reaching a level of refinement sufficient to make them actionable.

The problem arises when omissions are deliberate and create a certain protectionism around business rules, preventing this knowledge from circulating properly.

Keeping this kind of information doesn’t make you indispensable but harms your work teams and contributes to the cost of poor quality.
